CISCO — Reusable writing framework with correct branches
Not one universal CLI. In a real practical, start with this basic device configuration, then write only the branch that matches the question. Port labels and IP addressing depend on the diagram.
Universal router base (for LAN / inter-network questions)
enable
configure terminal
interface g0/0
ip address 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0
no shutdown
exit
interface g0/1
ip address 192.168.2.1 255.255.255.0
no shutdown
exit
end
write memory
show ip interface brief
Use this base as-is only for Experiment 1, where the router interfaces each face a different PC LAN. With two routers, the router-to-router link needs its own subnet; see Exp 7. On switches, ip address on access switch physical ports is not the same operation as router interface configuration.
Branch A — VLAN on 2960 switch (Exp 6)
enable
configure terminal
vlan 10
name SALES
exit
vlan 20
name HR
exit
interface range fa0/1 - 2
switchport mode access
switchport access vlan 10
exit
interface range fa0/3 - 4
switchport mode access
switchport access vlan 20
exit
end
write memory
show vlan brief
Output: VLAN 10 includes Fa0/1–2; VLAN 20 includes Fa0/3–4. Same VLAN pings work, different VLAN pings need a router or L3 switch.
Branch B — Static route, RIP, OSPF (Exp 7)
Topology: LAN1 — R0 — 10.0.0.0/30 — R1 — LAN2.
- R0 LAN
192.168.1.1/24; inter-router10.0.0.1/30. - R1 LAN
192.168.2.1/24; inter-router10.0.0.2/30. - For STATIC: R0
ip route 192.168.2.0 255.255.255.0 10.0.0.2; R1ip route 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 10.0.0.1. - For RIP: remove relevant static routes, run
router rip, version 2,no auto-summary, and advertise each connected network. - For OSPF: remove static/RIP routes, run
router ospf 1plusnetwork ... wildcard area 0statements.
Use the complete separate .cli files in Exp_07.... To validate real routing, use show ip route (S/R/O) and ping an opposite-LAN PC.
Branch C — DHCP (Exp 8)
enable
configure terminal
interface g0/0
ip address 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0
no shutdown
exit
ip dhcp excluded-address 192.168.1.1
ip dhcp pool LANPOOL
network 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0
default-router 192.168.1.1
dns-server 8.8.8.8
exit
end
write memory
PC: Desktop → IP Configuration → DHCP. Output: auto-assigned 192.168.1.x address, mask, gateway.
Branch D — NAT/PAT (Exp 8)
In the separate NAT topology, mark LAN port ip nat inside, WAN port ip nat outside, add access-list 1 permit 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.255, ip nat inside source list 1 interface g0/1 overload, plus a working default route to outside router. See full topology/commands in Exp 8. show ip nat translations populates after actual test traffic, not merely by configuring rules.
Topology questions (Exp 3.2)
Bus demonstration: hub with PCs (shared medium, physically star); Star: switch with PCs; Ring: four switches cyclically connected (STP may block one port); Hybrid: two switches connected through hub with PCs. Give diagram + IP table + ping + Simulation PDU, not arbitrary router CLI.
Important checks
show cdp neighbors— ensure the actual ports match the assumed connected devices.show ip interface brief— target ports show up/up.show ip route— correct remote network and route type.ping ...— run from the source PC to actual destination IP.- Save with
write memory; save.pktthrough Packet Tracer's File → Save As.
